We are the People... We are YOUR voters.... We are in crisis!!
For too long, companies have manipulated hiring practices to exclude those seeking jobs due to Unemployment. It is a trend that has spread nationwide, and excludes many well-qualified individuals from jobs, while forcing those same people to struggle to pay for the necessities of life. Most of those on unemployment are looking for work, hoping to find something that will let them lift up their heads and feel like they are being productive for their family. It is impossible to feed your children with stress, or fill your car with tears of hopelessness. A person can not look to the next week when they fear the next day.
When you turn in an application for employment knowing that it will be ignored for NO OTHER REASON than the fact that you are currently Unemployed, it is a slap in the face to not only your dignity and pride, but to the very basis of this country!!! This country was founded by individuals who came seeking a new start with new hopes and dreams. All eyes were on the possibility of new lives, richer lives, HAPPIER lives. Today is no different than then.
We, the unemployed of the United States ask, no, DEMAND, that you-our leaders, appointed by US to serve and protect US- enact laws designed to penalize ALL COMPANIES who refuse to hire unemployed individuals simply due to their status as unemployed. This would not only help the individuals who are seeking jobs but also help this country by increasing the tax revenues by increasing the number of employed individuals who are paying state and federal taxes, while DECREASING federal and state expenditures on Unemployment Benefits.
It is time to stand up for the people who put you in office. It is time to stop catering to the special interests and ignoring the activities that go against all good reason. It is time for YOU, our legislators, both at State AND Federal levels, to stand up and say "Enough is Enough!!". Give us who are seeking work the ability to regain our dignity, our sense of self-worth, and our pride. More than that, give us HOPE!!!
